How to use an official upgrade disc?
Using an official CC1.0 Upgrade Disc is very easy. Simply insert the disc in any CC1.0-modified PS2 and let it boot. When the upgrade menu comes up, you will be given 2 options:
> Flash Chip > Install BMan
"Flash Chip" will your CC1.0 chip whatever firmware file (FIRMWARE.CCI) is on the upgrade disc.
"Install BMan" will install the current version of BootManager located on the disc to memory card.
To Upgrade Your CC1.0 Firmware
1. Choose "Flash Chip" and hit the X button.
2. When completed (this takes around 20-30 seconds), the upgrade application will say "Done!" and return you to the menu.
3. Your CC1.0 firmware has now been updated. You will now be able to use any functions that the firmware you're using provides.
To Install BootManager:
1. Insert a memory card into Memory Card Slot 1 of the PS2 with atleast 200k of free space. If you do not have enough free space you will need to free up some space by deleting saves using the PS2's built-in memory card manager system.
2. Choose "Install BMan" and hit the X button.
3. When completed (this take around 10 seconds), the upgrade application will say "Done!" and return you to the menu.
4. BootManager is now installed on your memory card. Now when you start your PS2, BM will automatically start up.
