X-B.I.T FORUMS ( soon )

16 November 04

We have added the XBX 1.6 LPC rebuild diagrams and the X-B.I.T V1.5 + XBX 1.6 adapter diagrams to the downloads section, under "Diagrams- zip packed". Please note that you must purchase a 1.6 adapter before the X-B.I.T V1.5 will be compatible with XBX 1.6's. The adapter does not support X-B.I.T. 1.0's.

29 October 04
X-B.I.T 1.6 adapters will be shipping as from Wednesday of next week. The adapter reduces the wire count from 11 down to 9 on XBX 1.6 consoles. Obviously the LPC port will have to be rebuilt first. Adapters will be sold at a very reasonable price by retailers, meaning that we can offer the end user unbeatable value for money. Stocks should be with retailers next Friday and installation diagrams will be placed online at the same time.

We would just like to remind customers that the new X-B.I.T V1.5 requires the V1.5 software applications, it will not work with 1.0 apps. Furthermore, the user will no longer have to snap the seal or write protect tab, since each piece is pretested with Linux BIOS before shipment, therefore we snap the tabs during testing and before the X-B.I.T's are packaged ready to be shipped. This is a change in procedure since the 1.0 days, to enSure that each X-B.I.T functions 100% correctly.

09 September 04
DMS Technologies announce the arrival of the X-B.I.T V1.5 with enhanced features and amazing value for money.

Compatible with XBX V1.0- V1.5 and separate adpater will be sold for the XBX 1.6. XBX 1.6 will require only 9 wires to be soldered!

High security and quality Actel FPGA design.

Higher speed USB data transfer connection via the integrated MCU.

Solderless pogo pin installation on V1.0-V1.5 or only 9 wires to solder for XBX 1.6 with optional adapter. (Sold separately).

Improved power and Ground connection on V1.5 XBX's.

2MB flash memory for Multi Bios.

Dip switch bank select

Choice of soldering methods, either with 11 wire loom or pin header.

Updated PC flashing software.

High quality components and each X-B.I.T V1.5 delivered in an ESD bag for static damage prevention.

USB cable included.

Stocks are ready to ship now to resellers.

The PC flash software is now available in the Downloads section. The V1.5 software can only be used on X-B.I.T V1.5, it cannot be used on the 1.0 Hardware. There are four different builds of the software for different versions of Windows (R), please download the version which corresponds to your Windows software.

The soldering of the pin header and wires installation remains unchanged. For the pogo installation on XBX V1.5 we now use a more stable power and GND through a specially designed cable. This must be connected in order to obtain Power and GND. We will upload the connection picture/instructions over the next few days.

16 Jan04

After finally receiving a v1.5 console we can now confirm that the X-B.I.T can be installed on v1.5 consoles without soldering. We are sorry for the misinformation in the foregoing news post. We actually never had a v1.5 console in our hands, we were only relying on information from the public. The LPC port on the v1.5 consoles is no longer providing GND and 3v3. This is why other modchips need to be connected to the according points on the mainboard by soldering or using special adapters. The X-B.I.T is operating with a 5v supply voltage which is still available on the LPC port. The GND connection gets established by screwing the X-B.I.T on the board. Please ensure that you only use the bundled screw and spacer.

We can therefore confirm that the X-B.I.T is a completely solderless solution for v1.0 - v1.5 consoles as it is from the first day of it's release. No additional cables or adapters are needed. We removed the misleading information from the former posts.

The second wave of shipments started at the beginning of this week. We would like to thank all the people waiting so long for their shipments. Thanks for your patience and your understanding. We also updated the manuals section with the v1.5 alternative solder points for 5V and GND.

Due to an unexpected defect of components we are forced to delay the production of the new X-B.I.T stocks to the end of December 2003. Unfortunately this defect was unpredictable. We apologize for the inconvenience and try to get stuff resolved as good and fast as possible.

We got informed that a few people have problems using the X.B.I.T PC-Flash software on systems running Windows®XP.

It took a while to investigate that problem but we think we have found the reason now:
We have tested the PC-Flash software together with the X-B.I.T hardware successfully on several PCs running Windows®XP. We can confirm that the problem is not only caused by the operation system itself. The error occurs when using Windows®XP together with a certain "NEC" chipset on your PC-mainboard. However this is a problem which is very difficult to track down since we can not test the software on all the different combinations of operation systems and chipsets out there. Due to the large number of different chipset manufacturers it might turn out that there is another combination of Windows®XP and a chipset which could cause similar issues.

We tracked down the problem and we will have a patch ready for you latest on monday the 13th. Unfortunately we will have to reprogram the USB-controller of the X-B.I.T if you are using Windows®XP together with a chipset which is causing the PC-Flash software to lock up. If that is the case please send back your X-B.I.T to your supplier, we will reprogram/exchange all devices quickly. We are sorry for the inconvenience but please be aware that we designed our product according to the official USB standards and that the problem is not caused by us however some PC hardware manufacturers do not go inline with those standards.

If you are using Windows®XP and if you have problems with the PC-Flash software please let us know the type of chipset and PC-mainboard you are using. Rest assured that we will offer support through our distributors and reslove all issues.
